Quality and durabilityHomeowners want defect-free homes. Using a factory-produced product, in a quality-controlled environment, reduces much of the on-site build process, which means significantly less defects during and after the build. Timber frame is recognised as the world's largest house building method, and has stood the test of time.. Modern timber frame buildings are specifically engineered to ensure the quality of construction – in both the factory and on site – is geared towards providing a durable solution. This is supported by the UK's top ten mortgage lenders, who all consider timber frame construction a conventional build method. Timber frame products meet government policy, valid since 2003, of adopting Sir John Egan's recommendations to provide programme predictability, whilst maintaining a healthy and safe working environment. | Maintenance and comfortTimber frame requires minimal regular maintenance, and this can be achieved with minimal disruption and cost after the initial drying out period, and then during the lifespan of the new home. Our own research shows 80% of people who live in timber frame homes are in favour of the comfortable living standards achieved using our system, and would buy one again. | Fire Safety PerformanceAll forms of construction need to comply with the fire performance requirements laid down by national Building Regulations. Contrary to many people’s perceptions, timber used in construction performs well in fire. Timber burns steadily at a predictable rate and in the process, charcoal is formed on the surface of the timber, which serves to insulate and protect the core. In addition, on several occasions when fire has occurred, the timber frame’s stability structure enabled occupants to escape in safety, and minimised damage to the property. | Environmental EfficiencyThe Government's desire to reduce CO2 emissions and utilise environmentally friendly raw materials, recognises timber as a renewable resource, and can significantly assist in the reduction of CO2 emissions. The timber materials we use are sourced from managed and accredited forests which have stringent replanting and environmental policies. |
