Type and size of project

This £8.1 million project will provide a 48 bed care home for South Lanarkshire Council. The three storey development, in Reid Street Rutherglen will be run and managed by the councils Social Work Resources. Construction of the project commenced in early 2009, with completion in autumn 2010.

Key Facts

The facility will offer an eco friendly environment, with enhanced space standards and social interaction elements such as a Restaurant, Fitness Room and Cinema. The timber frame contract value was £ 356K and the project was erected on site in 16 weeks.

Built in three separate wings, one of the wings had a steel frame on the ground floor to accommodate the restaurant area. In this area SMTS supplied and erected external wall infill panels. The remainder of the structure was constructed using traditional timber frame methods with 140mm open panel walls and 235mm JJI intermediate floor cassettes – fully erected by crane.
