The Burgess Hill development in West Sussex, which opened in 2010 includes the construction of a timber frame 60 Bed Premier Inn and Restaurant.

Stewart Milne Timber Systems, in conjunction with the Whitbread design team, developed a highly efficient, pre-insulated, closed panel timber frame solution which will provide a highly energy efficient structure. (Expected U Value for the wall is 0.22 W/m²K).

Stewart Milne Timber Systems, working as a nominated Sub-Contractor for Whitbread on the development managed by Speymill Contracts, completed the timber frame construction on site in 8 weeks. The total contract value for SMTS was £349,251 – which included the design, supply and erection of the three storey Hotel and Restaurant. (Including all associated plant to erect the structure).

In addition to the structure itself, the Burgess Hill development will also incorporate some additional green technologies, which will deliver 70% carbon and 60% water savings. These technologies include the following: ground source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting and grey water recycling, low flow shower head, heat recovery system, automated lighting controls and sun pipes.
