Offsite construction: five reasons why you need this CPD

If you are interested in the future of construction in the United Kingdom, and would also like to learn more about the latest developments in offsite construction which will almost certainly play a very significant role in rebuilding the strength and vitality of our industry, then you need to be at our free RIBA-accredited CPD session on 23 September. Don’t miss it. (More details are below, but if that’s convinced you, sign up right away by emailing tours@stewartmilne.com)

It’s an interesting time in UK construction just now. On one hand we’re being told we will be granted an easier route to construction approvals through reduced red tape at a local authority level. On the other hand, we are experiencing ongoing brick and skills shortages as the industry tries to catch-up with the post-recession upturn which coming out of the financial crises has given us. We have to contend with reduced capacity in some parts of our industry while being asked to increase output across most sectors. Talk about being between a rock and hard place.

Offsite construction can help address all of these issues. As one of the most technologically advanced and sustainable ways of building, offsite construction methods reduce overall build costs while enhancing speed of build and increasing energy efficient for greater performance standards.  For example, we completed the timber frame construction of a 60-bed Premier Inn complex within eight weeks. This building also delivered a 70% reduction in carbon emissions.

To help industry professionals get a better understanding of the benefits of offsite construction we are opening up our offsite manufacturing facility in Witney, Oxfordshire.

Free to all construction professionals including house builders, quantity surveyors, construction managers, directors, and affordable housing providers, the session is free of charge and includes:

  1. official CPD-accreditation for RIBA members
  2. an explanation of fabric first and its ongoing cost-saving benefits for building projects of all shapes and sizes
  3. a live tour of our offsite manufacturing facility, the largest in the UK, with an opportunity to learn about and inspect the raw materials
  4. a CAD demonstration of timber frame design and scheduling
  5. an insight into how offsite construction can benefit different types of projects with an update on the latest development in this sustainable construction methods

We’ve designed this CPD seminar to provide you with a valuable insight into sustainable construction, and previous delegates have told us they’ve found it to be a worthwhile opportunity for both professional development and networking with like-minded professionals. We hope to see you there.

Places are limited to make sure you don’t miss out, email tours@stewartmilne.com to secure your place. We look forward to welcoming you.
