Stewart Milne Timber Systems, the UK’s leading provider of timber frame building solutions, has reinforced its position as a leader in innovation with the launch of its new range of cost-effective, Sigma® OP open panel build systems. With four base products available (Sigma® OP1 – Sigma® OP4), the Sigma® OP open panel systems have been designed to meet a wide spectrum of budgets and technical specifications and can contribute to meeting levels 3, 4 and 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. The systems offer a wide range of different U-value solutions, insulation options and wall types and customers can utilise a unique performance matrix to assess which component combinations will meet their financial and energy requirements most effectively. In terms of energy performance, the Sigma® OP open panel range can achieve U-Values of between 0.44 and 0.12 W/m2/k with lambda values as low as 0.032. The Sigma® OP systems minimise wall thickness and help to reduce the cost of foundations. In addition, the Sigma® OP products offer reduced thermal bridging and options to include services within the studwork to reduce on site costs. The Sigma® OP 2 and 4 wall types include factory-fitted insulation which offers benefits such as simpler build integration, reduced on-site waste and higher levels of performance. Other cost benefits of the prefabrication options include reduced site prelim costs, reduced health and safety risk, and increased speed of build. Commenting on the company’s latest product, Alex Goodfellow, Group Managing Director – Stewart Milne Timber Systems, said: “Following the success of our award-winning closed panel Sigma® II Build System, it was important for us to continue investing in R&D. The new Sigma® OP products have the flexibility and a range of features which will deliver significant cost benefits for projects where speed of build and fast return on investment are essential.” The company will be exhibiting its Sigma® OP range of open panel systems at this year’s Ecobuild at ExCel in London on Tuesday 20 March – Thursday 22 March 2012.
