John is responsible for product specification across all our product ranges, along with new product introductions, ensuring their suitability to the customer and internally right through; health and safety, technical, manufacturing, commercial and site practicalities along with ensuring a sustainable supply chain is in place.
John brings a wealth of technical and practical experience to this exciting role within the business, along with a real drive and focus on customer centricity.
Director of Product Development
Stewart has spent close to 30 years working for Stewart Milne Group, progressing to Managing Director of their timber frame operations. His current role is responsible for all product and process development across the group, as well as chairing the group design and technical forums within Stewart Milne Homes.
During 2007 Stewart was the project director of the ground breaking and award winning prototype Sigma® Level 5, near zero carbon Home, the first in the UK. His current role sees Stewart focusing on the development of the group’s award winning Sigma® II Build System and the advancement of the group’s off-site manufacturing and on-site assembly strategies.
Most recently Stewart was instrumental in bringing together and leading the triple award winning AIMC4 consortium. This is a collaborative R&D project, to deliver affordable mainstream Level 4 homes, through a fabric first approach. This leading edge project secured £3.25m of innovation funding from Government and is widely regarded as an industry exemplar project.
Stewart is a past chairman and director of UKTFA (UK Timber Frame Association). He is a member of the HBF sustainability group, member of Construction Scotland Industry Leadership Group, and a steering group member of the DCLG/ZCH design versus as built performance project. More recently Stewart was a participant on the reconvened Sullivan Expert Panel in Scotland. He has a master’s degree in project management, lives in Oxfordshire and is a keen golfer.
Technical Manager - England & Wales
Simon joined Stewart Milne Timber Systems in 2010 and has specialised in timber frame design and construction for the past 28 years. Simon has extensive experience achieved working within architectural private practice; national house builder architects department and specialist timber frame manufacturing companies. His construction knowledge and skills position him well for providing Stewart Milne with innovative solutions in an ever changing marketplace both technically and professionally.
Having served an apprenticeship in joinery and then graduating with an Honours Degree in Building Engineering & Management, David joined Timber Systems in 1997.
He has since focused his career in Timber Frame technology. In that time he’s assisted many of our clients’ projects across the UK through his project management, commercial and timber frame technical expertise.
David joined the Board in October 2007.
Frank began his career in civil and structural engineering before joining Stewart Milne Timber Systems.
His role in leading the design and technical teams involves engaging with clients to value engineer projects, manage our design lab and deliver robust design guidance.
Frank was key in the setup of our design lab in Witney where he worked for 5 years.
National Account Manager
Debi has over 15 years experience in the house building industry and has been in her current role since 2005.
Debi has a strong technical knowledge and an excellent understanding of the complete timber frame process.
National Account Manager
Neil has 27 years industry experience in construction materials application and specification; He is a qualified MCIOB Chartered Construction Manager. He has extensive experience in developing offsite housing systems in the Masonry and Insulation sectors.
During his time at Hanson Building Products; Neil led the project to develop the first offsite traditional masonry home to achieve the new code for sustainable homes compliance. He has also been at the forefront of automated offsite insulation material application for Knauf Insulation, developing the first mineral wool system in the UK to be factory installed. During three years in the regulatory sector with BRE; Neil managed multiple stakeholders in the construction of phase three of BRE’s Innovation Park.
Neil joined the SMTS team in 2016 to develop and deliver sales growth through strategic national house builder relationships and agreements. This involves building on excellent work carried by the team to date and driving the expansion and innovation in the specification and use of offsite timber systems.
